About Aaron
Aaron began working on campaigns for Democrats at the age of 10 and has not stopped. Even though he is 31 he has worked on over twenty (20+) campaigns from Maryland House of Delegates races to presidential campaigns.
He has attended the Democratic National Convention as a guest of the Democratic Party. He has interned in the U.S. House of Representatives for then Rep. Chris Van Hollen and in the U.S. Senate for Sen. Evan Byah. He has interned for the Montgomery County Council in the office of Councilman Roger Berliner. County Executive Ike Leggett appointed Aaron as a Commissioner to the Commission on People with Disabilities for Montgomery County on which he rose to become Vice Chairman. Governor O’Malley appointed him as a member to Maryland’s Developmental Disability Council and he served on the Executive Committee as the Vice Chairman.
Governor O'Malley also appointed him to the Operating Model and Insurance Rules Advisory Committee, Maryland Health Benefit Exchange as a consumer representative. Aaron also worked in Annapolis for Shelia Hixson, then the Chair of the Maryland House Ways and Means Committee and interned for Del. Heather Mizeur and also in the National Congressional Relations Office of Easter Seals.
Aaron sits on the board of two non-profits, the Jewish Foundation for Group Home (JFGH) and is on its Executive Committee and Leadership Montgomery. JFGH is a leading provider of housing and support for individuals (of all religions) with physical and developmental disabilities. Leadership Montgomery is a non-profit entity which strives to convene and connect leaders form the public, private and non-profit sectors. Aaron is a member of the Emerging Leaders Class of 2015. In the past he served on the board of Sunflower Bakery. Sunflower Bakery trains individuals with intellectual disabilities to work in bakeries.
Aaron is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and District 18. He is a product of our County and State school systems. He attended Walter Johnson High School and Montgomery College, in their Montgomery Scholars Honors Program from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then studied at the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in American Studies with the American Studies Department Scholar Award (highest departmental GPA) and American Studies Department Outstanding Community Service Award. He also attended Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK.
Aaron worked for Project Search Montgomery where he instructed adults with severe developmental disabilities on life and job readiness skills. He worked in collaboration with job coaches and the Montgomery County Government liaison to facilitate successful job placements for his students within the Montgomery County Government.
He is currently employed as an advocate for individuals with disabilities and those living in poverty.
Aaron is currently a member of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC). He has worked diligently on the MCDCC and looks forward to serving for four more years. On the MCDCC he has lead the fight for universal voter regestration.
